Leading Resorts of Lanzarote

lanzaroteLanzarote is an ideal destination for anyone searching for a sunshine break on a budget during the winter months. As this small Canary Island enjoys great weather all year round and is just four hours flying time from the UK. Making it the closest option to home for British tourists.

As well as clement weather all year round Lanzarote is home to over 90 beaches – some of which such as Famara in the north and Papagayo in the south are regarded as amongst the best in the whole of the Canarian archipelago.

The number of British and Irish tourists booking Lanzarote holiday villas direct online has expanded rapidly over the last decade. As the growth in internet usage has made traditional travel agents largely redundant. And tourism on the island is concentrated in the three main resorts of Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca. All of which boast their own character and identity.

Costa Teguise

Located just fifteen minutes from the island’s sole international airport at Arrecife, Costa Teguise is the most northerly resort on Lanzarote. And the ideal choice for anyone who likes co combine sunbathing with sightseeing. As all of Lanzarote´s main attractions such as the Green Caves and the Cactus Garden are within a fifteen minute drive.

The resort was developed during the 1970´s around the central hub of the Pueblo Marinero. Which is a fascimilie of a typical Canarian fishing village. And home to a wide selection of bars and restaurants.

Puerto del Carmen

This former fishing village was once known as La Tiñosa. But has now expanded massively to become the most popular resort on Lanzarote. Extending some 8km along the coastline in the direction of Lanzarote´s airport at Arrecife.

Most of the best villas in the resort can be found in and around the Montana Tropical and Los Mojones areas. Both of which are located above the Old Town, around ten minutes walk from the harbour.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is the newest resort on Lanzarote. And is blessed with a great climate (arguably the best on the island) as well as some breathtaking beaches.

With a fine selection of holiday rental properties available across the resort.

Playa Blanca is also the gateway to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. Making it possible for holiday makers here to visit not just one Canary Island but two. Whilst the resort is also located in close proximity to the Timanfaya Volcano Park – which is the best known and most popular tourist attraction on the island.
